A Hike and Fly Challenge

The X Dales 2025 with take place over the 5th - 7th September.

This will be a one day challenge, the best day being selected at short notice.  Planning is currently underway and  information will be laid out here as further details become available.

The 2025 X Dales will have three quite separate elements running concurrently.  They will be scored and positioned separately, each with their own awards.

A - RACE.  This is designed for the more experienced, fittest, equipped  and competitive. The task will be longer and more demanding.  The route will be set at short notice (24hrs)

B - RACE.  A shorter route, but still challenging, for fairly experienced competitors who may not have the lighhtest gear, but regard themselves as having a good level of fitness. As above - route set at short notice.

(ALL Routes will be based on the waypoint set below and used as appropriate to the task)

C - WAYPOINT BAGGING.  The tagging and collection of the maxiumum number of waypoints (of varying value) within an area closer to base.  A fair level of fitness required, designed for more novice H&F competitors, but able to plan their own route.  The emphasis is on a less demanding, more fun a day out.

Each competitor will choose from one of the above options. This will be entered on their entry form, but can be changed up to 48hrs before the day of the challenge.

We will again make use of the Settle to Carlisle railway to  each fixed START point. These are as follow. Starts for each option are as follows:

A - Garsdale    B   Denthead    C  Ribblehead.     FINISH for ALL is the Settle base field.

* Use the LINK below to the Eventbrite site for entry to the FLY -IN and the X DALES. Note they are quite separate. If you are entering the X Dales that information is then passed on. Within seven days you should receive a confirmation email, an entry form and a Risk assessment. Once your entry details are received you will be added to a mailing list. At some point you will also be invited to an X Dales Telegram group.
