4/1/2026    Three Men

First flight of 2026. It's best measured in minutes, but nevertheless, it was good to be out.

Another lovely day (in a two week spell of very cold, dry and  sunny weather). I arrived at an almost windless parking to see several gliders flying and more about to take off. As they seemed to be mosty on the WNW face I opted for the track as opposed to the quicker more direct route. Mainly for the exercise really.

Tom landed just as I arrived. on take off.  The wind had dropped - it tended to come and go and also to switch between WNW and WSW.  A brief chat and with a little more wind Tom tried his luck. Shortly after I followed. The wind remained light so basically it was a series of scratchy beats, but always heading for the inevitable. Some slope landed for a second attempt but not being that fussed I simply decided to land and do a lengthy, neat pack.

Some pleasant socialising - there were about eight out in total, before setting off for a football match that got called off.
